Wakeu Fogaing et le cinquantenaire

Un nouveau spectacle et un thème de circonstance: Le Cinquantenaire de l’indépendance du Cameroun, que Wakeu Fogaing honore avec une jubilation particulière.

Wakeu Fogaing est né un 20 mai et ce n’est pas sans conséquence sur son éducation, sur son enfance et sur sa carrière. C’est autour de la célébration du Cinquantenaire de l’indépendance du Cameroun qu’il tourne en dérision son enfance et son rapport avec son père. Celui-ci était en effet persuadé que la date de naissance de son fils conférait automatiquement à ce dernier une responsabilité particulière...

Wakeu Fogaing délaisse, le temps d’un spectacle, le destin de Monsieur Nimportequi qu’il conte depuis une décennie, et jette un regard dans le rétroviseur de sa vie jusqu’à ce Cinquantenaire. Il se saisit des mots, du langage et, via une alchimie particulière, les transforme pour décrire ce qu’il considère comme «le sort de son quotidien».

La première partie de ce spectacle sera assurée par deux jeunes talents parrainés par Wakeu Fogaing. Wakeu Fogaing est auteur, comédien, metteur en scène et dirige la Compagnie de théâtre Feugham, (Bafoussam) depuis 1993 avec l’auteur dramatique Kouam Tawa.

10 dessins imprimés laser sur papier

Dimensions de chaque cadre 30 x 40 cm

Ces dessins sont réalisés au feutre directement sur des images de magasines de mode puis ils sont numérisés et imprimés sur papier. Ils rendent visible la perte de l'identité de la femme à la fois celle du mannequin dans la photo de mode et celle de la femme portant la burqa. Ces formes noires effacent le corps dans la photographie, l'annule pour créer des formes monstrueuse.

Ils sont la suite d'une série de dessins à l'encre : « Collection 2009 » où il était question d'une série vêtements carapace en poils.

very top of this building, there is an architectural structure in which is installed LED panels and films which are broadcast continuously. It's the most beautiful effect because we do not see with the naked eye. One has the impression that images literally float. This perfectly highlights the architecture.

The lost city - a trip

This film is a shift in both time and space built around the meeting the artist and Quebecois who, by force or by choice were exiled to find work, a better life. Evidence, souvenir photos, travel images, sound files fit together to create a hybrid object which intersect the universal issues related to migration, territory, habitat but also to the memory.

The beginning of the film is a long journey made by the artist on board a small cargo along the north shore of Quebec, the road to stop the city from Natashquan to Blanc Sablon on the border of Labrador. A barren landscape scrolls slowly by rhythmic activity of the workers during the stopovers. Throughout the trip, we discover some passenger-Innu communities local residents. The soundtrack superimposes the testimonies of former residents of the town of Gagnon, a city, further inland. This city was completely destroyed in 1985 after the closure of its unique economic hub: an iron mine.
Witnesses interviewed by the artist evoke the ideal life in this place yet hostile to the man, very isolated, very cold in winter and summer insect infested. They describe the reasons for their exile, the organization of community life and lived after tearing closure of the city. They tell of the fascination still on them here now, after his disappearance 25 years ago, a science fiction setting.
